  • Beauty Review: Face Forward Aesthetics

    Face Forward – April 2019

At 36, I can say that I’ve had an interesting journey with my skin, from blackheads and spots in my teens, that monthly, hormonal painful under-the-skin zit, puffy eyes, fine lines and the dreaded wrinkles. Really selling myself aren’t I?

I’m actually happy with my skin and by no means do I think I’m a minger! Naturally I believe that inner beauty is vital, however I also see the importance of looking after my skin.

One of my favourite sayings is, you wouldn’t paint a wall without treating it first – and that phrase is also so relative to our skin. You can have the best make up, but it can still look naff if you’re not looking after what’s underneath.

I have one or two good face masks, I visit a great home salon Fresh Faced for derma pen treatments (check Sophie out!) and I also have had muscle relaxing injections (Botox), but I don’t go mad with it. I’d like to think it’s not obvious and I think that’s the key.

Us north-east girls care a lot about our appearance and I’m not ashamed to be right in amongst it!

I wasn’t on the look out for a new beauty salon, but while I was having my hair done in Sunderland, two lovely girls from Face Forward paid me a visit from the studio they had just opened next door and had a chat to me about the new services they provided, plus they had cupcakes soooo…..

Ailish and Cara are sisters and are both dentists by trade and explained that they both working full time and run their new studio on evenings and weekends. Already impressed by their hard work and dedication, we talked more about the various services they provided and they told me that they’d be happy to offer me a complimentary first service. I accepted immediately!

Fast Forward to my visit to Face Forward, Sunderland, where I was welcomed into a brand new, lovely, spotless studio. We had a cuppa and a natter, and shortly after I was shown into the treatment room and sat down to chat through my goals for my skin.

Face Forward co-owner Cara took me through everything, I then explained that I wanted to alleviate my frown line and a couple forehead lines and we agreed where the injections would be placed.

A quick photo of my ‘before’ frown and it was on with the injections, which were quick and only a little sting, which I’d compare to squeezing a spot or having your eyebrows plucked.

We went through the aftercare and then I was on my way. I was told that it would take a few days for the results to appear, but a couple of days passed and I was already amazed at how smooth my skin was and struggled to see where my previous lines were. See for yourself!

    This was immediately after:

Then this is me a few weeks later (wow) when I went for my top up consultation.

Then here’s my lovely looking forehead after a couple of days. Ignore my roots!

    Smooooooth!

    In summary;

    • The team are fabulous – and very knowledgeable and professional.

    • It’s a family run, small business, which we should all do our best to support.

    • The set up is modern and ‘fresh’.

    • The process is simple and quick.

    • The costs are great value.

    • I was delighted with the results!
